Easter

3/27/24 Newsletter

Why do we celebrate Easter? What message can we share to those who we mingle with every day? Easter is one of the most powerful events that remind us why we are Christians. "The very first Easter taught us this: that life never ends and love never dies." "Easter is the demonstration of God that life is essentially spiritual and timeless." "Christ the Lord is risen today, sons of men and angels say. Raise your joys and triumphs high; sing, ye heavens and earth reply." Quoted from Time & Country Magazine.

Pastor’s Corner

Every year we want to make the message of Easter fresh and renewed in the heart and mind of each one. How can we do this? In a recent post in Christianity today, the author reminds us that in a passage found in 1 Corinthians 15:3–5, we can sum up the message of Easter. Paul says in those iconic verses, “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve.” This is great, right? Jesus is alive. He died and rose from the dead and He lives today. This fact is the most exciting thing about our Christianity. We have a friend, a Savior, a King, a Rock, and the one who walks with us every day! Fundamentally, the gospel is the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ in fulfillment of Scripture. It is more than that, of course, but not less.  Don’t forget to share this during the week.

VBS

We are reaching out to all the children this June with VBS (vacation Bible School). Our neighborhood is surrounded with children. And we want them to know that Jesus loves them.

Do you love children? Would you like to be a part of a week-long ministry here at the Santa Maria SDA Church?

Youth Rush is coming to Santa Marial

Every year the CCC recruits young people to engage in an intensive ministry program where young people go from door to door selling books and giving away free literature to help families with some of the challenges life has to offer. They spend time in the Central Valley, Bay Area, and Central Coast. During the months of June and July, they will be sharing here in Santa Maria. Please pray for the families of Santa Maria. They will plan to knock on over 1000 doors.

A reception will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Valley View Adventist School. Those who follow Christ the most closely have not been gloomy. In Christ is light and peace and joy forevermore. We need more Christ and less worldliness, more Christ and less selfishness.
